(Re-)introduction to JavaScript

JavaScript is probably the world’s most popular programming language right now, and one of the least understood.

It’s not uncommon to dive into it without actually knowing it, thinking it’s a simple language and we’ll do fine. I’ve done that, but when you start understanding how it really works it’s pretty amazing.

I decided to unlearn what I had learned and look at the whole thing again with a totally different mindset. I like Douglas Crockford‘s books and talks for the basic stuff and the language itself, and Addy Osmani for more advanced topics.

Since this is an introduction to JavaScript, Crockford has a really awesome playlist on YouTube on everything you need to know about JavaScript (pretty much)–everyone should watch that. Also, The JavaScript Programming Language video is a quicker overview (playlist is about 8 hours I believe).
